Do you know what’s really wrong with America? Cupcakes.

I’ve spent the past few years wondering what it is I hate about cupcakes.

I think I got it all out in my last column for MarketWatch.

Cupcakes have become an industry since the Great Recession. They are self-indulgent treats for self-absorbed people.

I’m hoping the closing of one of the nation’s largest cupcake makers, Crumbs Bake Shop, will mark and end to this trend, but somehow I don’t think it will.

  1. Al,

So when did you decide to worry about the world’s obesity and when did you decide that the obesity was the result of cupcakes? You may not have figured it out, but skinny people like cupcakes just as much as everyone else of every body size and type.

If you want to complain about the capital structure they are raising, isn’t that a different topic than people’s weight? No one cares about whether or not you like cupcakes and the game the money people are playing can be done whether it is cupcakes or rifles and that is the topic.
